Finally found my peace with the 16 October. After exactly 10 years. 😄

(For sure too late as always with my Social Media 😉, but yeah, here we go...)

16 October 2012:
Me, a young 14 year old boy competes as the youngest participant in the “Formula BMW Shoot Out” at the Austrian Red Bull Ring. 🏁🇦🇹 The conditions were very tricky. Some rain and in the end a drying up track. Means every lap got quicker and quicker and every lap the 14 year old underdog was on P1. 🎉 Then the final lap, the car in front of me spun into the gravel. Yellow flag, I needed to slow down. Other cars where already through without needing to slow down. I gave it all when the track was clear again, drove a fantastic lap but in the end I was 3 thousands of a second slower then a 17 year old boy from the Netherlands. So I finished second.🥈 Means I didn’t the get the prize, a sponsorship for the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup and as you all know I didn’t have the necessary financial resources so I couldn’t participate in it. Without a doubt together with the 2018 Zandvoort race the toughest moment in my sporting career. 😔Formula BMW Shoot Out“ am österreichischen Red Bull Ring an. 🏁🇦🇹 Die Bedingungen waren sehr knifflig. Etwas Regen und am Ende eine abtrocknende Strecke. Das heißt, jede Runde wurde schneller und schneller und jede Runde war der 14-jährige Underdog auf P1. 🎉 In der letzten Runde drehte sich dann das Auto vor mir ins Kiesbett. Gelbe Flagge, ich musste abbremsen. Andere Autos waren schon durch, ohne dass sie langsamer werden mussten. Ich habe alles gegeben, als die Strecke wieder frei war, bin eine fantastische Runde gefahren, aber am Ende war ich 3 Tausendstelsekunden langsamer als ein 17-jähriger Junge aus den Niederlanden. So wurde ich Zweiter.🥈 Das bedeutet, dass ich den Preis, ein Sponsoring für den Formula BMW Talent Cup 2013, nicht bekommen habe und wie ihr alle wisst, hatte ich nicht die nötigen finanziellen Mittel, um daran teilzunehmen. Zweifellos zusammen mit dem Rennen in Zandvoort 2018 der härteste Moment in meiner sportlichen Karriere. 😔

16 October 2022:
Me, a 24 year old man competes in the 44. International Chess Open Città di Arco (Italy). 🇮🇹♟ After outplaying a strong opponent in the first round, but first blundering the win in the first time trouble and then the draw in the second, I nevertheless took a lot of positive energy and faith with me. So I went on to play some fantastic chess and won the next 4 games. 👍🏼 With for me an absolute surreal ELO-performance of 2181, I played a polish FIDE-Master on board 8 in the 6th round. 😊 Of course no chance for me, but I continued to play great games and went on to win my category on 16 October 2022 after playing the best chess tournament of my life. Also making new friends.😄 So one of my best sporting memories off the race track. 😄💪🏼 44. Internationalen Schach-Open in Città di Arco (Italien) teil. 🇮♟ Nachdem ich in der ersten Runde einen starken Gegner überspielt hatte, aber in der ersten Zeitnotphase den Sieg und in der zweiten Runde das Remis verpasste, nahm ich dennoch viel positive Energie und Zuversicht mit. So habe ich dann fantastisches Schach gespielt und die nächsten 4 Partien gewonnen. 👍🏼 Mit einer für mich absolut surrealen ELO-Performance von 2181 spielte ich in der 6. Runde gegen einen polnischen FIDE-Meister an Brett 8. 😊 Natürlich keine Chance für mich, aber ich spielte weiter tolle Partien und gewann am 16. Oktober 2022 meine Kategorie, nachdem ich das beste Schachturnier meines Lebens gespielt hatte. Außerdem habe ich neue Freunde gefunden.😄 Also eine meiner besten sportlichen Erinnerungen abseits der Rennstrecke. 😄💪🏼

So what ever happens in your life stay strong, continue to work hard and to believe. And then one day for sure good things will happen. You can not force it, but at one point it will certainly happen. That’s life, so always fight, always believe and always go on. 😄💪🏼
